Share monsters. Keep creator credit.
New Community publications share the creator’s original monster content as Open Game Content under the Open Game License 1.0a. Community is a beta: review every stat block before using it.
What you publish
Your roster stays private to your account. Publishing creates a public snapshot of the selected monster, credited to your saved pseudonym. Later roster or pseudonym edits appear publicly only when you update that snapshot.
Before publishing or updating, you must confirm that you have the rights to publish and license your contribution. Do not publish someone else’s private monster, protected character, or other material you cannot share.
Open Game Content designation
The creator’s original monster stat-block text, mechanics, and descriptive text in an explicitly licensed publication are designated Open Game Content under OGL 1.0a. This designation applies only to content the contributor has the rights to license. It does not grant rights in third-party Product Identity, trademarks, artwork, tokens, or material carrying a separate license.
Read the complete Open Game License 1.0a. Each licensed monster’s notice identifies its title, publication year, and creator pseudonym. Retain the full license and all applicable copyright notices when redistributing Open Game Content.
Existing third-party licenses remain in place
Boss Forge includes material from the System Reference Document 5.2 (“SRD 5.2”) by Wizards of the Coast LLC, available at dndbeyond.com/srd. The SRD 5.2 is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Boss Forge adapts and formats that material for editable stat blocks and exports. This material retains CC BY 4.0; it is not relicensed by the creator’s OGL grant.
Artwork and tokens are not included in the Open Game Content designation. Check their rights separately before reuse. Boss Forge branding and third-party trademarks remain with their owners.
Browsing, exports, and removal
Anyone can browse published stat blocks. The platform’s export tools require an active subscription, an unexpired Adventure Pass, or an existing unlimited-export entitlement. That service requirement does not limit rights granted under the applicable content licenses.
Unpublishing removes the snapshot from Boss Forge’s Community library. It does not withdraw licenses already granted to copies obtained while it was published. Older snapshots without a recorded license are labeled accordingly; no new grant is assumed until their author republishes with consent.
License source
The OGL text is reproduced from Wizards of the Coast’s official SRD 5.1 document. Its full copyright notice is retained. Boss Forge is an independent product and is not affiliated with Wizards of the Coast.
